Celebrating the Feast of Christ the King – Nov. 24

This Solemnity proclaims Jesus Christ as the King of the Universe.

Pope Francis reminds us: “On this feast day, we rejoice together in the reign of Christ the King over the whole world. He is the one who removes all that hinders reconciliation, justice and peace. We are reminded that true royalty does not consist in a show of power, but in the humility of service; not in the oppression of the weak, but in the ability to protect them and to lead them to life in abundance (cf. Jn 10:10).

In the cold and secular world around us it often appears to be December 25th already! But in our Church, we Catholics try to slow down, we take our time ant try to truly get ready for December 25th. We celebrate that it’s Advent. This is a very meaningful time in our liturgical calendar- embrace every week and prepare for the coming of the Prince of Peace.

Chapter 6 of John’s Gospel presents us with what is traditionally called the “Bread of Life Discourse.” It’s John’s deep, mystical and profound teaching on the Most Holy Eucharist.
Reflect, today and throughout this week, upon your approach to Holy Communion. The Eucharist is Christ Himself. It’s a gift that has the potential to not only sustain us in every way but also to draw us into the greatest Heavenly delights. Believe Jesus’ words in this holy chapter of John’s Gospel. For if you deepen your belief in all that Jesus has said, you will begin to realize that all you crave in life will begin to be fulfilled by this precious gift in ways beyond your imagination.   https://catholic-daily-reflections.com/2021/04/19/the-bread-of-life/

Jubilee Year 2025 – IT’s JUST AROUND THE CORNER

What Is a Jubilee Year?

A Jubilee Year is traditionally proclaimed by the Universal Church every 25 years. It is a particular year set aside to encourage the faithful to embark on pilgrimages, to repent of their sins and forgive the sins of others, and to renew a focus on the spiritual life.

The 2025 Jubilee year is an extraordinary opportunity to recognize each other as “Pilgrims of Hope”.

As His Holiness Pope Francis so beautifully expressed it: “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us,and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision.”

The Jubilee begins on December 24, 2024, with the official Opening of the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s Basilica, and runs to January 6, 2026, the Feast Day of Epiphany, with the Closing of the Holy Door.

We want to give a “Core Value shoutout” to all Ministry volunteers and Leads who have worked so hard over the last many months to support our Weekday and Weekend Mass Experiences.

As you can appreciate, it can be challenging to have enough volunteers to complete this service. Your cooperation and dedication to your Ministries is unwavering and so very much appreciated.

ALSO – To all parishioners, THANK YOU for your active participation; for coming to Mass, and for your support. May God continue to bless each of you and your families.

25 November

FEAST DAY of Our Diocese

Saint Catherine’s Day, also called the Feast of Saint Catherine is Nov. 25th. It commemorates the martyrdom of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.

Saint Catherine is the patroness of students, teachers, librarians and lawyers.

Attached, find the Diocese of St. Catharine’s Synod 2021-23 Consultation Summary Report. We encourage you to read it prayerfully, and share it widely; the Reporting subcommittee hopes that you hear your own voice echoed within its pages.

The Diocesan Planning Committee wishes to extend its appreciation and thanks to the Synod listening session facilitators, to pastors and  parish staff, and everyone who participated, whether in person or through the online survey. The tasks of reviewing the survey data and comments, reading the session notes, and then synthesizing and coding the qualitative data into this report was both challenging and humbling.

The synodal path that we have stepped onto is alive with hope! This experience of listening, of discussing, of taking time with the Holy Spirit must see its completion with pastoral planning and action that respond to the tensions and themes the report has identified.

St. Michael Church is committed to this MISSION

To raise joyful disciples of Jesus Christ to become apostles.

WHY? Because God loves us and calls us

To share the love of God that has been poured into our hearts.

HOW? By Serving you!

Come and See
